DOWNWARD DOG

downward dog

Whenever I begin Tai Chi practice indoors my dog Ronin lays down in my practice space to chew his bone. I don’t know why but my German Shepherd has done this ever since he was a puppy. Is he doing this just to be next to me or is it done on purpose to bother me? As I begin my Tai Chi form the loud bone chewing begins.

As I slowly flow from one movement to the next, the loud bone chewing noises seem to fade away. After a few minutes into my form, when I am about to step into my next posture I realize there is a ninety five pound immovable dog at my feet.

After my Tai Chi practice, I would always rub my hands together and place my hands on my dog and give him a good massage. He always looked forward to it.

The video below called "The Misguided Monk" reminds me of me and my dog.

Does anyone else's dog or cat look for attention when they practice Yoga, Tai Chi, or any other meditative form?

Let me know in the comments below.
